Terms of Service

Last updated Sep 18, 2026

About these terms

These terms set out the conditions for using Koi Karte (“the Service”), provided by SOLVLET (“we”). By registering for the Service, you agree to these terms.

How we handle the information you entrust to us is described in the Privacy Policy. Please read it alongside these terms.

Your account

One account per person. You are responsible for keeping your email address and password safe. We are not liable for damage arising from someone else using your account.

If you forget your password, you can ask for a reset link from the login page. If you can no longer receive mail at the address you registered, there is no other way back into the account.

If you are a minor, please use the Service with the consent of your legal guardian — a parent, for instance. The same applies to subscribing to the paid plan.

Price and payment

The free plan covers one koi. Subscribing to the Hobbyist plan (5 US dollars per month; 500 yen including tax when you subscribe in Japanese) removes the limit on how many koi you register. The features are the same on both plans — only the limit differs. Koi whose status you set to “Transferred” or “Departed” do not count toward the limit.

Payment is by credit card through Stripe. You pay for the first month when you subscribe, and the subscription renews automatically each month on the date you signed up, until you cancel. In a month that has no such date, the charge falls on the last day of that month. Stripe holds your card details; we never receive them.

If we change the price, we will announce it on this page and by email at least 30 days in advance. If you do not accept an increase, you can cancel before it takes effect.

Changing plans and cancelling

You can cancel at any time from the account page. After cancelling, you keep the Hobbyist plan until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund a part of a month when you cancel mid-period.

If you return to the free plan while holding more than one koi, we do not delete anything. You simply cannot add new koi; everything you have recorded so far remains readable, and you can still export it as CSV.

What you must not do

Do not access other people’s accounts, place an excessive load on the Service, upload content that breaks the law, or reverse-engineer or copy the Service to offer something similar.

If we find such use, we may suspend the account without prior notice.

What you register

The koi details, measurements, care logs, show history, and photos you register are yours. We do not use them in advertising or hand them to third parties. We handle them only as far as running the Service requires — displaying them to you and holding them safely against failure.

Images of breeder or health certificates can show other people’s details — a breeder’s name, a previous owner’s name. Whether to upload such an image, and whether you are entitled to, is your own responsibility. We use those images for nothing but showing them back to you.

Changes and closure

We may suspend the Service temporarily and without notice for maintenance or to deal with a fault. If we decide on a long suspension or on closing the Service, we will tell you by email at least 30 days beforehand. Until it closes, you can export your records as CSV and keep them yourself.

What we do not promise

The Service is a tool for keeping records, not advice about a koi’s health or its treatment. Feeding, salt baths, medication, and quarantine entries are simply what you wrote, listed back to you. Judge by the fish and the water in front of you, and consult a vet or a breeder when it matters.

Except where we have acted intentionally or with gross negligence, our liability for damage arising from your use of the Service is capped at the fees you paid over the preceding twelve months, or 10,000 yen, whichever is the greater.

Closing your account

If you wish to close your account, contact us at the address at the end of these terms. On receiving your request we will delete your account together with the records and photos you registered. There is no self-service button for this inside the app: the operation cannot be undone, so a person checks it before it runs.

Please write from the address you registered with. If a request arrives from another address, we send a confirmation to the registered address and act only once you reply to it.

If you are on the Hobbyist plan, closing your account cancels the subscription at the same time, and we do not refund the rest of the period you have paid for. If you would rather use the plan until that period ends, cancel first from the account page and write to us once it is over.

The records of what you paid — the invoices and the receipts — stay with Stripe for a period after you leave, because the law requires those books to be kept. Your card number was never held by us in the first place.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we post the new text and the date it takes effect on this page. If a change works against you, we also tell you by email at least 30 days before that date. If you keep using the Service on or after the date it takes effect, you are taken to have accepted the change.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Japan. For any dispute concerning the Service, the Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance.
